After being appointed as judge of the Seoul Civil District Court in 1988, LEE, Won Il served as judge for about 21 years until he resigned at the Seoul High Court in 2009. He studied appeal cases filed with the Supreme Court of Korea as a Judicial Researcher from 1998 to 2000. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Lee taught the practices of criminal trials and corporate law to prospective legal practitioners as professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea. He joined Barun Law LLC as a partner attorney in 2009. Mr. Lee is now leading our Real Estate / Tax and Administration Practice group.

During his tenure as judge, he primarily dealt with criminal cases. He diversified his expertise by focusing on the criminal matters while he served as professor of the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea. He retired from the chief judge in charge of criminal litigation actions. His career helped him have a deep knowledge and understanding of both civil and criminal matters. He successfully represented an SME JVM Co., Ltd. in a case concerning provisional disposition to suspend the effect of options under KIKO transactions. He has also showed expertise in corporate law by advising on diverse corporate issues, including the advisory service for KT Corporation on the M&A with Kumho Rent A Car Co., Ltd.
