As a partner attorney of Barun Law LLC, LEE, Kyung Hoon primarily practices local and international M&As, capital market transactions, securities, corporate finance, cross-border transactions and corporate legal matters. Graduating from Seoul National University and Harvard Law School, he was admitted to practice in Korea and New York, USA. Mr. Lee also practiced securities and M&As at a New York based law firm, Debevoise & Plimpton. In particular, Mr. Lee has accumulated a broad range of experience and expertise in a large scale M&A transactions of financial institutions, including M&A transactions of regulated industrial sectors and attack and defense strategies against hostile M&As. He has unparalleled experience of representing clients in innovative and creative equity market transactions. His representations include Saudi Aramco in the acquisition of Ssangyong Oil (c/k/a S-Oil Corporation), Peregrine in the incorporation of a joint venture holding company, Carl Icahn in purchasing KT&G’s shares and the exercise of shareholder’s rights and KT Corporation in establishing a joint venture company with CEC Group in China.

M&A

- Advising on the acquisition of Ssangyong Oil (c/k/a S-Oil Corporation) by Saudi Aramco through the purchase of new shares (valued about USD 500 million) 

- Advising on the acquisition of Koram Bank by Carlyle Group 

- Advising Medison on the acquisition of Kretztechnik, Austria 

- Advising on the joint venture project to establish SK Enron, a holding company of seven town gas providers, between Enron and SK    

- Advising Carl Icahn on the purchase of shares (valued at KRW 300 billion) of a listed Korean company, KT&G and the exercise of shareholder’s right   

- Advising on the investment project of Carlyle, imGO, and Springboard Harper in relation to investment in Ness Display

Others

- An international arbitration action filed by a French company, Framatome against KEPCO for damages equivalent to KRW 300 billion

- Advising Green Fire & Marine Insurance and Green Investments on the violation of the Securities Exchange Act, including price manipulation

- Advising Seoul Foods Industrial Co., Ltd. on the defense strategy against hostile M&A and the protection of management rights  

- Representing the Freya Town in a litigation action filed to claim the registration of transfer of real estate (valued at KRW 500 billion)
