Attorney Baek Gwang-hyeon gave a lecture titled, "The Law Becomes Visible Once You Learn the Law" to the contestants of the 65th Miss Korea Pageant, Daekyeung University Seoul Hallyu Campus, on October 29, 2021.

As prospective Miss Koreas will go on to work in the entertainment industry or be frequently exposed on the media, many of the participants showed great interest in the lecture—especially on how to respond to stalkers and infringement of portrait rights. As many of the contestants were influencers on social media, they also showed interest in the measures on responding to undisclosed ads.

Attorney Baek (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 36th) explained during the lecture that “One can understand the law as much as one knows and that is why one needs to have basic knowledge of the law so as to avoid any disadvantages when signing advertising or broadcasting contracts,” and gave specific examples on defamation (concerning Hanee Lee, actress), responding to stalkers (concerning Min Jong Kim, actor), unauthorized use of photographs (concerning Sun A Kim, actress), violation of advertising contract (concerning Soo Geun Lee, TV personality), unfair contracts of talent agencies, and even provided ways to respond to disputes celebrities or social media influencers can easily face.

“If you hesitate in taking the initial action concerning defamation or malicious comments online, the degree of such harassment can become greater. In the case of stalkers who habitually or repeatedly stalk the victims, it would be wise to press charges against them for alleged threats, trespassing, compulsion, etc. to have the stalkers become aware of the legal procedures and thereby prevent further damage,” explained Attorney Baek at the lecture, and added, “If your photos are used without your authorization on online communities or on social media, you must record such unauthorized use (including the details, dates, etc. thereof) as evidence in order to specify what sort of infringement has occurred.”
