Dongdoo Choi is head of the firm's international disputes practice. Prior to joining Barun Law, Dongdoo practiced international arbitration and litigation at top international firms.

Dongdoo has significant experience of handling international arbitration matters seated in the U.S, U.K., Singapore and Hong Kong under major institutional rules. He has also handled litigation matters in various courts in the U.S., U.K., and Singapore, representing globally well-known conglomerates in Korea.

Dongdoo is also a thought leader in international arbitration, as he was honorably cited by the U.K. Supreme Court in a landmark decision, Enka Insaat ve Sanayi AS v OOO "Insurance Company Chubb" [2020] UKSC 38. In this decision, the Supreme Court referred to his published paper, "Choice of Law Rules for International Arbitration" Asian International Arbitration Journal, V11, Nov. 2015, finding his position in the paper to be in line with the Court’s view.

International Arbitration

- Represented the seller (claimant) in commodity transactions against the buyer in an HKIAC arbitration

- Represented a global shipbuilder (claimant) in an LMAA arbitration against a Greek owner

- Represented a buyer (claimant) in a post-M&A dispute under the SIAC rules against a private equity fund (seller) on issues of breaches of representations and warranties under a share purchase agreement

- Represented a consortium of three global contractors in an ICC arbitration matter against a Dubai subcontractor in a refinery construction project in the ME region (including proceedings before the Singapore International Commercial Court)

- Handled a sports arbitration matter under the CAS rule over doping regulation issues

International Litigation

- Represented Hyundai Mobis in multiple U.S. product liability litigation matters

- Represented Optrontec, a Korean smartphone components’ maker, against a U.S. competitor in US ITC and federal district court litigation matters

- Handled multiple civil litigation matters in the U.S., U.K. and Singapore courts
